Tuesday we decided to explore.   Hey, it's only gas right?  We figure if you look at it like every 20 miles = $3.39, it really isn't so bad.

Photo essay trips do save a lot of money considering what could be spent at shops and entertainment.  Between the two of us we took well over 300 pictures yesterday.

We decided to head up further north.  The U.P. - also known as Upper Peninsula.  It is surprisingly close.  Just take M north to Presque Isle and a skip and a jump and you are in Michigan.  The first point of interest was an Indian Reservation Casino.  We had seen many places closed this Tuesday after Labor Day.  We decided to lunch and potty up before continuing.

Our destination?  Bond Falls as a start.

The Michigan State Park DNR folks have improved their signage considerably since our last adventure to Bond Falls.   To get to the source of the falls you have to either start at the bottom and go up.  Or visa versa.

This is the first sign at the top-down entrance

This is the NEXT Sign

There is one that warns about steep sloped and slippery pathway, but I can't find it!

Ah!  Here it is!

And MY Personal Favorite!

Before we get to the REALLY good pictures... lets review those sign things again.

Just Making Sure He Sees The Sign

Very Steep Rock Steps - The Rest of The Terrain Was Rocky and Difficult

More of the slippery steep incline

And The Destination At the Bottom of a Long Climb Up and Down

Bond Falls - U.P. Michigan

But WAIT!!!  There is MORE!!!

Since we were this far north we decided to go to Lake of the Clouds.
Previous trips showed nothing more than what the name claims... Clouds.
This year was a delightful experience of both scenic beauty and dangerous adventure.

We start of course... with the warning signs.

This is the path we took to the lake.  Looked like no human had been on it in recent times. This is the cliff.  The path opens up to a rocky ledge with a sort of a pathway leading to the top edge.

This is the Top Edge - I went up there too!
Slowly.. but I did it!

Garry has better picture of
Lake of the Clouds with No Clouds
but I took this one from the top of the cliff!

Of Course - When You climb to the Very Top -  You get the very best shots

So-we climb around this rocky cliff.  Long way down...  no fence no gate no rail to hold onto.  And then we come around the corner and see THIS!  A lovely deck with wooden pathway to parking lot.  One of us was highly annoyed at the inconvenience.  The other of us was... well can you see where he is?
